teen wolf isn't high art or anything it's not particularly well written nor is it known for its sweeping metaphors and nuanced characters but i do often think about the fact that isaac lahey worked at a cemetery, that his first appearance on the show was him literally digging a grave, proceeding to get trapped in said grave, and then meeting and accepting the help of derek hale, the person largely responsible for flipping his life upside down, ending his old life. the grave didn't actually belong to him but in that scene isaac literally dug his own grave, not only that but then this kid who worked at a cemetery went on to have virtually his entire character defined by loss (pre-series, his mom and brother, and then his dad, erica and boyd, and then allison) until he left the show, and in all that time after all that loss he never learned how to process it, never had a "normal" "healthy" reaction to any of it, literal last lines on the show pertained to how unable he was to properly handle death. the fact that isaac lahey is a character literally molded by grief, coming with the pretense of loss, always the byproduct of death and yet so ill prepared to deal with any of it.
